Leslie Gibson, age 81, of Sulphur Wells (Snap), KY, passed away Saturday, (August 23, 2025) at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born on May 18, 1944, the son of the late Mack and Ivy Williams Gibson.
At the age of 14 Carmon Cann preached him the gospel and he was saved at the old homeplace.
He was a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church. He was a retired construction worker and farmer. He spent his life going to church and loved spending time with his entire family.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Priddy Gibson; two daughters, Martha (Robin) and Becky (Robin); one son, Allen (Anetta); thirteen grandkids, Michael (Shelby), Matthew (Melinda), Thomas (Laura), Andrew (Jadeyn), Maria (Jared), Candace (Donovan), Brittany, Chelsey, Leslie, Allison, Kayla, Ashley, Tricia (Shawn); 25 great-grandkids, Austin, Samuel, Owen, Logan, Ivy Grace, Mason, Madison, Molly, Mark, Layton, Lottie, Maggie, Brooks, Tyler, Hadley, Miles, Nicholas, Lee, Dawson, Doris, Amelia, Paige, Dwayne, Michael, Avery, and one on the way, Several nieces and nephews and many friends in which he dearly loved, also survive.
He is also survived by 2 sisters, Earnestine (Wilbur) and Judy (Don);one brother, Hank (Debbie); two sister-in-laws Barbara and Patsy Gibson; and two brother-in-laws, Ed Rivas and Larry Wayne.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Glenuel, Cletus, Bradley, Delmar and Jimmy Gibson; and five sisters, Ileen Saltsman, Lillian Herdt, Ora Rivas, Cloretta Gibson and Doris Wayne.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, (August 27, 2025) at the Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Clarkson. Bro. Matthew Riggs and Bro. Phillip Knight will be officiating. Burial will be in the Gibson Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church until time of services.
