A driver has been arrested after a DUI crash killed his passenger and seriously injured another passenger.
Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to the single-vehicles wreck on Thursday night at approximately 9:40 on Sulphur Creek Road in Cumberland County.
The state police investigation showed that 66-year-old Ronald L. Huser, of Lebanon, Indiana, was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 on Sulphur Creek Road near the Sulphur Creek Marina parking lot entrance when he lost control of the vehicle.
The truck exited the roadway and traveled over an embankment before hitting a tree, state police said in a press release.
A passenger in Huser’s vehicle, 65-year-old Douglas Johnson, of Lebanon, Indiana, was transported from the scene to Cumberland County Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Another passenger, 38-year-old Mallory Larson, also of Lebanon, Indiana, was transported to Cumberland County Hospital and later airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries.
Huser refused medical treatment at the scene. He was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide when under the influence of alcohol, first-degree assault and DUI (aggravating circumstances).
He was lodged in the Adair County Detention Center.
