A Daviess County woman has been jailed after falsely claiming she was sexually assaulted in Whitesville.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office said the woman claimed that on August 13 she was assaulted, sexually assaulted and robbed by an unknown attacker.

An investigation was conducted by detectives with the General Investigations Unit and Forensics Investigations Unit.

“As the investigation proceeded, detectives began to realize that much of the evidence did not support the allegations, including a medical exam conducted at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital following the reported attack,” the sheriff’s office said. “Nonetheless, detectives continued the investigation, including interviews with people who were named as possible suspects.”

It became impossible, though, for investigators “to resolve several details of the reported attack,” the sheriff’s office said.

On Thursday, detectives spoke with the person who made the allegations, 29-year-old Kylen Edge, of Whitesville, in the presence of her attorney where the sheriff’s office said investigators “confronted her regarding the inconsistencies discovered during the investigation.”

Edge, while being confronted by police, admitted that the attack did not occur and that she had faked her injuries.

She was arrested and charged with falsely reporting an incident to law enforcement. Edge was lodged in the Daviess Co. Detention Center but is no longer listed as an inmate.
