A Hardin County woman and Daviess County man have died in a chain-reaction accident on Dixie Highway.
The crash happened Sunday morning at approximately 10:00 in the 12000 block of Dixie Highway in south Louisville, just north of the Hardin County line.
The Jefferson Co. Coroner’s Office told WDRB.com that 63-year-old Tami J. Hawkins, of West Point, and 77-year-old Gary Wright, of Owensboro, were killed in the four-vehicle accident.
The wreck occurred when a southbound vehicle, being driven by Wright, changed lanes and struck another southbound vehicle. Wright’s vehicle then continued in the northbound lanes where it struck a second vehicle, being driven by Hawkins, causing that vehicle to hit another car.
Wright’s vehicle then struck a utility pole.
Wright was pronounced deceased at the scene while Hawkins was transported to University of Louisville Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
