A student at the University of Kentucky is facing charges after she was accused of hiding a deceased infant’s body in her closet.
The Lexington Police Department arrested 21-year-old Laken Snelling, a member of the UK Stunt Team, and charged her with abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence and concealing the birth of an infant, according to media reports.
Police received a tip last week and responded to Snelling’s Park Avenue residence where the deceased infant was found in a garbage bag in a closet. Snelling admitted to police that she gave birth to the baby.
Snelling, a senior, is from White Pine, Tennessee.
The Fayette Co. Coroner’s Office is working to determine the cause of death.
On Tuesday, Snelling pled not guilty to all charges. She posted a $100,000 bond, according to WLEX.com, and was placed on home incarceration where she must reside with her parents in Tennessee.
