A child has perished in a residential fire in Bowling Green.
The Bowling Green Fire Department (BGFD) said firefighters were dispatched to the blaze at 627 Loving Way, near WKU, at approximately 5:20 Thursday afternoon.
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the home.
“Crews immediately initiated search and rescue operations while also working to contain and extinguish the fire,” the BGFD said in a social media post.
During the search, a juvenile victim was located inside the residence.
“Fire crews quickly removed the victim from the home and rendered immediate medical aid on scene,” the BGFD said.
The child was transported to a local hospital where the juvenile was pronounced deceased.
No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
