A woman was killed, a Grayson County man was injured and two children were seriously injured in a crossover crash during heavy rainfall on the Western Kentucky Parkway just east of Clarkson.
The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Clarkson and Leitchfield Fire Departments, and EMS responded to the two-vehicle accident at the 117-miler marker of the eastbound parkway Thursday morning at approximately 4:25.
Upon discovering a woman had died in the crash, deputies requested Kentucky State Police to investigate the incident.
State police said the investigation showed that a 2017 Honda Civic, being driven by 30-year-old Francisco Tziquin, of Houston, Texas, was traveling west when the vehicle crossed the median and struck, head-on, an eastbound 2008 Lincoln MKZ, being driven by Isaac Hearn, of Leitchfield.
An adult female passenger in the Honda, who was from Honduras, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Grayson County Coroner Kevin Pharis (who was assisted at the scene by Deputy Coroner James Embry).
Two juvenile passengers in the Honda, who suffered serious injuries, were transported by EMS to Norton Children’s Hospital.
Hearn was transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center. According to a social media post, Hearn has been released from the hospital.
Tziquin, who walked away from the scene but returned, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid and no operator’s license. He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
The name of the woman killed in the crash has not been released.
The eastbound parkway was shut down for a little over two hours while troopers investigated the crash.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet assisted at the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing by accident reconstructionist, Trooper Scott Wheatley.
