
A Leitchfield man has been arrested for an incident four years ago where he’s accused of domestic violence assault for the third time in five years and assaulting a police officer.
The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office arrested 53-year-old Melvin D. Howell on the strength of an indictment warrant out of Edmonson County charging Howell with two counts of third-degree assault of a police/probation officer, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence, his third offense in last five years), resisting arrest, third-degree terroristic threatening, menacing, second-degree disorderly conduct, and second-degree persistent felony offender.
The four assault charges and persistent felony count are felonies.
According to the arrest citation, the alleged offenses took place on October 28, 2021.
He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond.
Howell’s arrest history dates back to at least 2003, according to online records. He has been arrested in four counties during that time for fourth-degree assault (multiple times), resisting arrest (multiple times), criminal mischief (multiple times), menacing (multiple times), public intoxication (multiple times), DUI, driving on a DUI suspended license (multiple times), and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
