Carol Dean Dunn, age 73, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Tuesday, (September 9, 2025) at Owensboro Health Twin Lakes in Leitchfield, KY. She was born on April 15, 1952 in Grayson County, KY, the daughter of the late Hoover Johnson and Glenna Nadene Windham Johnson.

Carol kept it real. She was a homemaker who loved her music, computer art design, and kicking back with her coloring books. She enjoyed flowers and collecting all kinds of knick-knacks- frogs, angels, dragons, you name it. She also had a soft spot for Native American culture.

But more than all that, Carol was everybody’s mom and Mamaw. Blood didn’t matter- if you needed love, food, or just someone to have your back, she was there. If she claimed you as hers, that was it – you were family.

She is survived by her children, Joseph Allen Dunn of Irvington, KY, Jason Lee Dunn (Renee) of Louisville, KY, Shalene VanCleave (Phillip) of Leitchfield, and Jennifer Dunn also of Leitchfield; grandchildren, Courtney Lindsey (Steven), Tiara Nevil (Landon), Brandon Webb (Chandra), Destiny Webb (Shawn), Jason Lee Dunn II, Zaniya Dunn, and Breia Dunn; great-grandchildren, Oliviah Shoemaker, Kourtlyn Lindsey, Tianna Shoemaker, Lacey Nevil, Natalie Nevil, Neveah Howard,
MaryJane West, Harlow West and Astird Webb; four sisters, Betty Meredith, Angel Miller, Gina Cook and Ann Mayfield; and one brother, Calvrin Douthitt.

Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Dunn and several siblings.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday (September 18, 2025). Cremation will follow.

Online condolences can be made in the guestbook on our website at www.dermittfuneralhome.com.
