A diver has discovered a vehicle containing human remains near an Ohio River boat ramp in Union County.

The discovery was made Friday morning only several yards from a boat ramp off Dike Lane in Morganfield.

Investigators, according to Kentucky State Police, believe the body could be that of a Union County man reported missing in January 2006.

The family of James Michael “Mikie” Mills, who was 38-years-old when he went missing, think the vehicle pulled from the water, a minivan with a blue door (see below), belonged to Mills.

“The door, the blue door on it. Where it was, it was so close to where he supposedly went missing. Just with the remains being in there, we never thought that he would just run off. He wasn’t the type that would just run off and not tell anybody,” Mills’ cousin, Kellie Farmer, told WFIE.com

The vehicle is being processed by Kentucky State Police investigators. The remains have been transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and further analysis.
