Rickey Lynn Shartzer, age 65, of Leitchfield, passed away Saturday, (September 13, 2025) Leitchfield, KY. He was born on May 31, 1960 in Hardin County, KY, the son of the late Howard Thomas and Beverly Jean Hickenbottom Shartzer.
He retired from Gate’s where he worked as a builder. In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he was a devoted Kentucky basketball fan.
He was a member of the Broadway Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sons, Shannon Shartzer (Jessica) and Bailey Cannon both of Leitchfield; two grandchildren, Chloe and Cannon Shartzer; siblings, Christine Grimstead (George), Janet O’Riley (Pat), Doug Shartzer (Shirley), Lottie Dowell (Frankie), Howard Shartzer (Steffanie), Bruce Shartzer (Donna), Wanda Dowell (Bradley), Timmy Shartzer (Tammy), Iva Marie Williams (Glenn), and Ronnie Shartzer.
He is also survived by a special friend, Vickie Hulsman and family. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Shartzer and five brothers and sister-in-law’s.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, (September 19, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. James Miller will be officiating. Burial will be in the Broadway Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. Friday until time of services.
