The Grayson County High School boys basketball team will make its first-ever appearance at the Marshall County Hoopfest this December.

Hoopfest, held annually since 2001, has featured 46 players who went on to sign with Power 4 programs and was ranked the nation’s No. 2 high school basketball event by USA Today in 2015.

In an announcement on Thursday afternoon, officials said that the Cougars will face Woodward Academy (GA) at 10:00 pm CT on December 5.

The War Eagles are located in College Park, Georgia, and finished as the Peach State’s AAAAA state runner-up a year ago.

They are headlined by 2027 SG Jarvis Hayes Jr., who is rated as a four-star prospect with offers from Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Miami (FL), and Missouri, amongst others. Hayes’ father, Jarvis Hayes, was star player at Georgia from 2001 to 2003 and played in the NBA for nearly a decade. He is currently an assistant basketball coach at Georgia State.

Bentley Lusakueno is being recruited by Auburn, Vanderbilt, Kansas State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Missouri, and Oregon. ESPN ranks him as the #6 overall prospect in the class of ’28.

2028 G Myles Hayes has offers from Auburn, Missouri, and Xavier.

“The Marshall County Hoopfest is one of those events that you don’t get asked to attend very often, so you have to jump at the opportunity to play in such a prestigious event,” Cougar head coach Travis Johnston told K105. “The team we are playing is absolutely loaded, so it will be a very difficult game. But to get to play a team of that caliber, that early in the season, it’s a good way to see where we are and what we need to work on going forward.”

Fresh off a berth in the 3rd Region championship game, the 2025/26 Grayson County boys will have high expectations leading into the new year.

The team will be headlined by returning honorable mention all-state standout Jack Logsdon, along with rising senior Brody Armstrong and junior point guard Spencer Langdon.

The Cougars also add transfer guard Jagger Mardis, who averaged 16.2 points per game while shooting 43% from three for LaRue County last season.
