Central Hardin High School was placed on soft lockdown on Thursday afternoon after shots were fired during a road rage incident.

The high school, at 3040 Leitchfield Road (Hwy 62) near Cecilia, was placed on soft lockdown at 2:35 Thursday afternoon.

“Two motorists traveling on Leitchfield Road in front of the campus were involved in an altercation. One of the motorists brandished a weapon and gunshots were fired. No one at CHHS was injured and the situation was quickly under control,” Hardin Co. Schools spokesman John Wright stated in a press release.

The Elizabethtown Police Department and Kentucky State Police responded to the scene.

The soft lockdown, where no one is allowed to enter or exit the building, was lifted at 3:15 p.m.

The two people involved in the road rage incident were “accounted for,” officials said.

No other information has been released.
