Grayson County’s Elli Cox has finished as the region runner-up in golf for the second straight year.
Cox’s performance helps her advance to the KHSAA State Championship First Round, which will be held at Pendleton Hills CC in Pendleton County next week.
The eighth grader will be joined at the course by Breigh Jones and Amelia Newton, who also qualified during the region competition held on Monday at Elizabethtown CC.
It will be Newton’s third trip to the state tournament, Cox’s second, and Jones’ first.
The Cougar boys’ golf team will try to put more golfers into the next round on Tuesday in Elizabethtown.
