
Kentucky State Police announced on Thursday the agency’s 2024 troopers and detectives of the year selections as well as recognized troopers with Lifesaving Medals.
During the award ceremony, KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett, Jr. praised the award recipients for their extraordinary service to the commonwealth.
“Tonight’s ceremony is about recognizing the troopers and officers who have gone far beyond the call of duty,” Burnett said. “Whether facing danger head-on, uncovering the truth through determined investigations or showing compassion when it mattered most, these troopers and officers embody the highest standards of our agency.”
KSP Post 4 Elizabethtown award winners
Detective of the Year
Master Trooper Bryan Washer was named Post 4’s Detective of the Year.
Washer, who was recently named Post 4’s Public Affairs Officer, began his career in April 2010 and graduated from the Kentucky State Police Academy in September 2010. He was first assigned to Post 5 in Campbellsburg where he served until January 2012. He then transferred to Post 4 in Elizabethtown, serving six years as a trooper before transitioning to detective, a role he has held for the past nine years.
Washer was also recognized as Post 4’s 2019 Detective of the Year, in addition to receiving the Meritorious Ribbon in 2018, and earning the Commissioner’s Commendation in 2022.
Trooper of the Year
Jesse Harp, of Elizabethtown, was selected Post 4’s Trooper of the Year. Harp graduated from the KSP Training Academy in January 2021 and was assigned to Post 4. He was part of the 100th Class to graduate from the KSP Training Academy since the inception of the agency in 1948.
KSP Lifesaving Medal
William Hendricks, of Shepherdsville, was awarded the KSP Lifesaving Medal. Hendricks graduated from the KSP Training Academy in June 2024.
