Ethelyn Huffman Decker was born January 23, 1940, on Conoloway Creek in Grayson County and passed away on, September 28, 2025, at Spring View Nursing and Rehab.
She was the fifth of nine children born to the late John and Sylvia Huffman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Grover Decker; three sisters, Odell VanMeter, Louise Huffman and Loretta Huffman and four brothers, Clevie, Colbert, Silas and Tommy Huffman.
She is survived by one son, Kenny (Robin); two grandchildren, Cortney Farris (Jason) and Aaron Decker (Heather); six great grandchildren, Tyler and Liam Harrell, Peyton and Max Decker and Tyler and Zack Farris; one brother, Duard Huffman; two sister-in-laws, Carolyn Hesson and Brenda Huffman and one brother-in-law, Dudley Decker.
Alongside her devoted husband, Grover, she worked tirelessly to build and grow Decker Family Farms, creating not only a livelihood but also a legacy rooted in hard work, dedication, and family. She was an expert seamstress, working in the sewing industry for more than 40 years. Ethel was a cherished member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she found joy in worship and fellowship with her church family. Her faith was her guiding light and a source of comfort throughout her life.
She will be remembered for many things—her kindness, her faith, her devotion to family—but perhaps most fondly for her famous homemade lemonade. It became a family tradition and an unspoken rule that she would bring it to every gathering, a simple but special reminder of her love.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Rogers Funeral Home with Bro. Damon Lasley, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch General Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM, Friday and after 9 AM, Saturday at the funeral home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Antioch General Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Spring View for all they have done for the family over the past 7 years.
