A contract worker at Eastern Kentucky University has died in a workplace accident.
The victim, 61-year-old Edwin Burton II, of Illinois, was working on an air conditioning unit in the basement of EKU’s Telford Hall when, according to WLEX.com, an “extremely heavy piece of equipment broke off and landed on him.”
EKU officials released the following statement on Burton’s death:
“We are saddened to confirm that a contractor performing work on our Richmond campus was involved in a fatal incident today. Our thoughts are with the individual’s family, friends and colleagues. Out of respect for the family and the ongoing investigation into the cause of death, we will not have additional information.”
