Man sentenced in Shepherdsville workplace shooting that killed 1, injured another

A man has been sentenced in a Shepherdsville workplace shooting that resulted in the death of one man and severe injuries for another person.

Corey Rowland, 29, of Louisville, was sentenced to 32 years in prison in the February 2023 shooting outside Gordon Food Service Distribution Center in the 300 block of Gordon Industrial Drive.

Rowland was sentenced to 22 years for murder and 10 years for first-degree assault, according to a report by WAVE.com

As K105 previously reported, when Shepherdsville police arrived at the scene, officers found 24-year-old Charles E. Puckett Jr. in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to University of Louisville Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Another shooting victim, a male, was also transported to University of Louisville Hospital in critical condition. That person survived the shooting.

Rowland, who fled the scene, was arrested by Louisville Metro Police less than 30 minutes after the shooting.

While being interviewed, Rowland told investigators that he left work early but stayed in his vehicle in the parking lot and shot “Chuck” 17 times, according to WAVE3.com. He said he shot the other man because he was friends with “Chuck.”

Rowland and the two shooting victims were employed by a third-party company that supplements the distribution center’s workforce.
