Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Heartland, which serves Grayson and four other counties, will host its first-ever Recruitment Summit later this month.

The event will highlight CASA’s mission to recruit, train and support community volunteers who serve as advocates for abused, neglected and dependent children within the family court system. Attendees will learn about how they can make a lasting impact through volunteerism with CASA of the Heartland.

Originally serving only Hardin County, CASA of the Heartland has since expanded to also serve LaRue, Meade, Breckinridge and Grayson counties.

Volunteers remain at the heart of the organization’s mission. For many abused and neglected children, a CASA volunteer is often the one consistent adult in their lives — someone solely dedicated to advocating for their best interests and ensuring their voices are heard.

The Recruitment Summit will be held on Monday, October 20 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 113 at 1251 Ring Road in Elizabethtown.

The evening will feature a presentation from CASA highlighting the organization’s impact and volunteer opportunities, along with a judges’ panel of family and district court judges offering their perspectives on working with CASA. A panel of current volunteers will also share personal experiences and insights from their service.

Attendees will gain a clear understanding of the training process, time commitment and the powerful difference one advocate can make in a child’s life. Complimentary food, drinks and desserts will also be provided.

“Whether you’re considering becoming a volunteer advocate or simply want to better understand the role CASA plays in our community, this event is a wonderful opportunity to learn and connect,” said CASA of the Heartland Executive Director Michelle Kail. “We invite the community to discover how CASA makes a difference for children in need.”

Admission to the event is free but registration is required. The deadline to register is Monday, October 13. To register, visit secure.qgiv.com/for/coth/event/casaconnects.
