A Powell County man was arrested after putting up what was perceived as a threatening Halloween display.
Stephan Marcum, 58, of Stanton, was arrested by Kentucky State Police and charged with third-degree terroristic threatening and intimidating a participant in the legal process after erecting a hangman display and fake body bags (garbage bags) in his yard with the displays labeled “Mayor,” “SIS,” “C.A.” and “Zoning Mgr.”
The display was erected in the yard of Marcum’s Court Street home in Stanton.
“There was one body that was being hung from an elevated position,” the citation stated. “All 5 of the bodies were labeled.”
“This is something you just don’t see every day,” Powell County Judge Executive Eddie Barnes told WKYT.com. “At first I didn’t know what to think about it because I actually drove by and [saw] it in his yard and I’m thinking you know, wow, you know, that’s kinda harsh.”
Kentucky State Police seized the display.
