The Grayson County Cougar Cross Country team completed their seventh race of the season on Saturday, October 11, at the Haunted Woods Classic at Oldham County High School in Buckner, KY, hosted by Oldham County High School.

With fall break wrapping up, both squads were short-handed for the second consecutive race. The Lady Cougars did not have enough runners to compete as a team, while the Cougar boys were missing two runners. As a team, the Cougars finished 14th out of 23 teams. The boys’ field featured 3A team state championship contenders St. Xavier, North
Oldham, Oldham County, and DuPont Manual.

With four runners out for the Lady Cougars, two Grayson County Middle Schoolers were called up to gain some varsity experience. Seventh-grader Abigail Griffith led the Lady Cougars, finishing 103rd out of 159 runners. Seventh-grader Isabella Masden ran her first varsity race with a personal best time of 25:16 to finish 109th.

On the toughest course the Cougars have run this season, freshman Levi Masden just missed a personal best time by 4 seconds, finishing 25th in 17:10. This was Masden’s
seventh straight race, earning an individual award.

The Cougar Cross Country team will host the Rough-Nolin Conference meet on Thursday, October 16 at 5pm at the Grayson County High School cross country course. This will be their final regular season race before the regional meet on October 25.
