A Caneyville man’s music festival vision comes to life on Saturday.
Muddfest 2025 Rock and Rescue, a festival offering a wide array of music from country and folk bands to rock-n-roll, is Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Centre on Main in Leitchfield. The event also serves as a major fundraiser for the Leitchfield Animal Shelter (LAS), as a portion of the proceeds are donated to the animal shelter.
The festival — which offers not only an eclectic mix of music, but also vendors and food (including Cloverport-based Vannatten’s Pitmaster BBQ) beer trucks and raffles — is the brainchild of Caneyville resident Patrick Mudd.
Only 26-years-old, Mudd was stirred to create Muddfest while attending a music conference.
“I was inspired to create Muddfest because I had been to a music business conference and met someone who had once started a small festival in Alaska because he was inspired by Woodstock,” Mudd told K105.
One of the key attractions of the festival is the aforementioned musical variety that will take the stage.
“We have a wide array from folk music from the hills of eastern Kentucky, all the way up to some hard rock coming in,” Mudd said. “We have several singer-songwriters that will be appealing to all ears.”
A musician/singer himself, Mudd finds satisfaction in giving young artists a stage to showcase their burgeoning talents.
“I also love the thought of creating a space for emerging local artists to be creative and show who they really are,” Mudd said. “Last year country music singer/songwriter Kevin Thomas showed us who he really is, and he’s now on tour breaking charts.”
In addition to a portion of the festival’s proceeds being donated to LAS, t-shirts will be for sale with all proceeds going to the animal shelter.
