20-year-old Brownsville man flees police at over 120 mph on motorcycle

A motorcyclist has been arrested after fleeing police in Edmonson County at over 120 miles per hour.

The Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office arrested 20-year-old Jeremiah Powell, of Brownsville, after he was spotted driving 80 mph in a 55-mph zone, according to a report by WNKY.com.

When a deputy activated his lights and sirens, Powell “sped up to 122 mph and turned onto Old Chalybeate Road,” WNKY.com reports. Powell then turned onto Chalybeate School Road as speeds reached 100 mph in a 35-mph zone.

Powell, after turning onto Sulphur Road, crashed the motorcycle and surrendered to police.

He was charged with felony wanton endangerment of a police officer, felony wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, illegal possession of a legend drug (prescription drug), speeding 26 or more mph over the limit, and reckless driving along with multiple other traffic violations.

Powell was lodged in the Hart County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond.
