A motorcyclist has died after running a red light in Daviess County.
Kentucky State Police said a trooper drove up on the crash Tuesday night at approximately 8:45 on Carter Road, near the US 60 Bypass off-ramp in Owensboro.
The investigation showed that a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle, being driven by 32-year-old Tyler Hamilton, of Owensboro, “was traveling south on Carter Road when he failed to stop for a red traffic light at the U.S. 60 Bypass off-ramp,” according to state police.
A 2023 Toyota Tacoma, being driven by 22-year-old Dylan Cook, of Philpot, was turning north onto Carter Road from the off-ramp when Hamilton’s motorcycle struck the driver’s side bed of Cook’s truck, resulting in Hamilton being ejected from the motorcycle.
He was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Cook and his passenger sustained only minor injuries. They were treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Joseph Richling.
