Man who wrote over $140K in bad checks in Hardin Co. accused of stealing cattle in 4 counties

Two men, one who wrote over $140,000 cold checks in Hardin County, have been accused of stealing cattle in four counties.

The Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office said a “long-term investigation,” conducted in conjunction with Kentucky State Police, the U.S. Secret Service and the Hardin County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, resulted in the arrest of 38-year-old Jeremy C. White, of Hardyville, and 32-year-old Robert C. White, of Edmonton.

The pair is accused of stealing cattle in Hardin, Hart, Barren, and Metcalfe counties.

The investigation included “interviewing several witnesses and executing multiple search warrants,” the sheriff’s office said.

The suspects were arrested on Friday at “various location” and charged with engaging in organized crime and theft by deception (cold checks, more than $1,000, less than $10,000).

At the time of publication, only Jeremy C. White is listed as an inmate. He’s being held in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.

Jeremy C. White, in October 2024, was indicted in Hardin County on four counts of theft by deception (cold checks, $10,000 or more), theft by deception (cold checks, over $500, less than $1,000) and third-degree criminal mischief.

White over $140,000 in bad checks to purchase high-dollar items in Hardin County, including a nearly $15,000 cold check in May 2024 to Rural King to purchase a UTV and trailer.

In June 2024, he wrote two bad checks totaling $47,358 to Elizabethtown Powersports to purchase a motorcycle, two ATVs, helmets and safety gear. Also in June of last year, White wrote two cold checks totaling $59,000 to Dan Powers Motorsports in Elizabethtown to purchase a three-wheel motorcycle, ATV and trailer.

The suspect also wrote two bad checks to Adventure Powersports in Elizabethtown for $20,400 for two Spartan lawn mowers.
