The Leitchfield Police Department is hosting a DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday.
“The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications,” the U.S. Dept. of Justice said.
The DEA adds that, “Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands,” the DEA said. “That’s dangerous and often tragic. That’s why it was great to see thousands of folks from across the country clean out their medicine cabinets and turn in – safely and anonymously – their old prescription drugs.”
The Leitchfield Police Department will accept “unneeded medication for safe disposal” on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at LPD’s headquarters at 515 South Main Street.
