A person was seriously injured when a truck struck an Amish Buggy and fled the scene.
The incident happened on Sunday night at approximately 11:50 in Nicholas County, according to Kentucky State Police.
State police said troopers responded to the scene on Concrete Road (Hwy 36) and discovered “an unknown vehicle struck the buggy from behind and fled.”
One of the passengers in the buggy suffered serious injuries and was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, where the victim remains in serious condition.
Another passenger suffered two broken legs. That person was treated and released from a hospital.
The investigation led troopers to the vehicle suspected to be involved in the crash, a 2008 Dodge Ram, that had been abandoned in Carlisle, the county seat of Nicholas County.
Police continue to search for the driver.
