The Grayson County Clerk is retiring.

Charlotte Willis, who was first elected as Grayson County Clerk in 2018, is retiring effective October 31, 2025.

Willis, a lifelong Grayson County resident, was only 19 when she began working for the Clerk’s Office in February 1995. She was hired by then County Clerk Margaret Woosley after Willis was spotted working at the Piggly Wiggly where she displayed a smiling, friendly demeanor with customers.

During her over three decades employed at the Clerk’s Office, Willis also worked under Clerks Carletta Farris and Sherry Weedman.

Willis told K105 regarding her retirement, “It’s time,” as she noted she would like to spend more time with her family.

Tonya Kessinger, who has worked for the Clerk’s Office for nearly three decades, will be appointed by Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson on November 1 to serve the remainder of Willis’ term, which ends on December 31, 2026.

“Charlotte has been a great clerk and was instrumental in the process of moving the office into the new location on E. Market Street to better serve the residents of Grayson County,” Henderson said. “We will definitely miss Charlotte and wish her nothing but the best in her retirement.”

The 2026 Primary Election is scheduled for May 19, with the General Election slated for November 3.
