Cameron “Cam” Verel Skaggs, age 42, of Middletown, KY, passed away Friday, (October 24, 2025) at his home.
He was born on June 26, 1983 in Elizabethtown, KY, the son of Verel Skaggs and the late Sheryl Haycraft Skaggs.
After working for the Grayson County Detention Center for several years, Cam moved to Louisville and took a job with Metrosafe where he worked as a dispatcher. He loved to laugh and tell stories, play guitar and listen to music, enjoyed cooking and was an avid reader, especially anything by his favorite author, Stephen King.
He is survived by his significant other, Jo Ann “Jo” Rodgers of Middletown; his children Keilei Madisin Barr and Lodin Conor Skaggs, both of Middletown; his father Verel Skaggs (Maxine) of Clarkson, KY; and his beloved french bulldog, Bugsy. Several aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sheryl Haycraft Skaggs.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow.
