
An elderly man has been killed after running a red light and being struck by a bucket truck.
The Greenville Police Department said the accident occurred on Friday morning at approximately 8:15 at the intersection of Hwy 189 Bypass and Airport Road.
Greenville police said 77-year-old Larry Hancock, of Greenville, was driving a 2011 Nissan Juke north on the bypass when he ran the red light at the intersection, witnesses told police, and was struck on the driver’s side by a 2020 Freightliner bucket truck, being driven by 39-year-old Justin Frazier, of White Plains.
Hancock was transported to Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
No other injuries were reported.
