Two Grayson County men have been arrested after an arrow penetrated the wall of a residence, nearly striking a little girl.
The Leitchfield Police Department responded on Thursday night at approximately 10:55 to Commerce Drive after a resident reported that an arrow “came through the wall of a residence (mobile home) just a few feet above the head of a 10 yr old girl …,” according to the arrest citation.
The little girl and her mother were sitting on a couch when the arrow penetrated the wall.
The investigation resulted in police identifying two men, 35-year-old Kevin Bergman, of Leitchfield, and 29-year-old Allen Lauderman, of Clarkson, “that were taking turns shooting a crossbow at a target that was set up in a bad spot,” the citation states.
Initially, both men “lied to officers about ever shooting a bow, or having one,” according to the citation, before one of the men confessed to shooting the bow.
In addition to hitting the mobile home, a wayward arrow struck a vehicle.
Both men were arrested, with Lauderman charged with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and second-degree criminal mischief, as he is accused of shooting the arrow that went through the wall of the mobile home.
Bergman was charged with complicity to first-degree wanton endangerment and complicity to second-degree criminal mischief.
The suspects were lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center. Neither man is currently listed as an inmate.
