Hardin Co. man arrested for assaulting his 15-month-old baby girl

A Hardin County man has been arrested after allegedly injuring his 15-month-old child.

James E. Kennedy, 42, of Radcliff, was arrested by the Radcliff Police Department on Saturday and charged with second-degree assault (domestic violence) and second-degree criminal abuse (victim under the age of 12).

The charges arose after Kennedy’s baby girl was taken to Baptist Health Hardin with swelling and bruising on her face (from her hairline to her eyes), according to a report by The News-Enterprise The child was also bleeding from her nose and lower lip and had bruising on an ankle.

Kennedy is accused of slapping the baby after her crying woke him up. The baby’s mother and Kennedy’s girlfriend then entered the baby’s room where she told police that Kennedy picked up the child by her ankle and put her back in the crib on her head.

Kennedy is being held in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
