A drunk driver nearly killed four people when she plowed into a vehicle providing traffic control while a semi-truck was pulled from a ditch on Millerstown Road.

The incident happened Thursday morning at approximately 12:45 in the 2000 block of Millerstown Road when 48-year-old Christina M. Brakebill, of Eastview, nearly struck Grayson Co. Deputy Caleb Fisher, Grayson Co. Constable/Clarkson firefighter Bill Dalton — who were on-scene providing traffic control while the semi was extracted from a ditch – along with C&L Auto Repair owner and tow truck driver, Lance Vaughn and his son Justin Vaughn.

The nearly tragic episode, which perfectly illustrates the dangers first responders face on a daily basis, began when a semi-truck left the road and entered a ditch. C&L was contacted to pull the semi out of the ditch. Just after C&L removed the truck from the ditch, a Nissan Altima, being driven by Brakebill, sped through the scene, coming within inches of hitting Fisher, Dalton and the two Vaughns, witnesses told K105.

Fisher entered his cruiser and gave chase, as the Nissan continued east on Millerstown Road.

Brakebill, though, whose Nissan was black in color with tinted windows, apparently pulled into a driveway or onto a side road, and turned off the lights to the vehicle, making the car practically invisible as Fisher drove by.

Brakebill then traveled west on Millerstown Road, as she fled Fisher back toward first responders.

Then, as Brakebill fled Fisher at a high rate of speed — possibly 75 to 80 miles per hour, according to several witnesses – she plowed into the back of Dalton’s parked GMC Yukon without hitting her brakes, pushing the approximately 6,000-pound vehicle 60-feet into the back of C&L’s tow truck, which suffered minor damage.

Brakebill was arrested and transported by Fisher to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center for medical clearance and a blood draw. She was then lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center where she was charged with multiple counts of felony wanton endangerment, including the wanton endangerment of police officers, DUI and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle.

The Clarkson Fire Department and Deputies Hunter Miller and Joel Baker responded to and worked the crash scene.
