A Breckinridge County man has been arrested after leading police on a two-county pursuit that ended with his vehicle becoming “lodged” on top of a police cruiser.

The incident began Friday night just before 10:00 when the Hardinsburg Police Department attempted to stop a pickup truck. The truck, being driven by 25-year-old Daniel R. Curry, of Harned, fled police into Hancock County.

Hancock County deputies joined the chase near Indian Lake Drive, as Curry traveled at a “reckless speed,” according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.

“Throughout the pursuit, the driver committed numerous traffic violations, including failing to signal, disregarding stop signs, and repeatedly driving into the opposing lane of travel,” the sheriff’s office said.

The pursuit continued on “multiple county roads” before Curry lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of Tom Bolin Road and Hwy 1389.

The truck traveled over an embankment where it briefly became stuck before Curry struck a Hardinsburg officer’s cruiser as well as a Hancock County deputy’s vehicle.

“(Curry’s) vehicle ultimately became lodged on top of a patrol car, at which point the driver exited and was taken into custody.”

Curry was charged with multiple counts of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), DUI (his second such offense), reckless driving, first-degree criminal mischief, and speeding 26 miles per hour or more over the limit along with other traffic violations.

He was lodged in the Breckinridge County Jail.
