An Uber driver in Madison County has been accused of raping an unconscious passenger.
Kentucky State Police arrested 61-year-old Clifford Partin, of Corbin, on Monday and charged him with first-degree rape (incapable of consent or physically helpless) and first-degree sodomy (incapable of consent or physically helpless).
Partin’s arrest comes after he allegedly raped a woman who called an Uber on August 30 following a party in Richmond. The victim called for an Uber driver due to her level of intoxication.
According to the complaint, as reported by WKYT.com, the victim lost consciousness soon after entering the vehicle. When she woke up, Partin was parked in a secluded area of a business parking lot on Lantern Ridge Drive in Richmond.
The victim demanded that Partin take her home, as she exited the vehicle shortly before reaching her destination and ran the rest of the way.
The victim then sought medical treatment and contacted police.
Law enforcement determined through an investigation that GPS data and surveillance footage from nearby businesses confirmed the Uber was in the isolated area for 25 minutes.
Partin was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond.
