
A tragedy was averted on Friday after a drunk driver crashed into a Christmas parade float in Smiths Grove.
Smiths Grove Police Chief Jason Franks told WNKY.com that the wreck happened on Friday evening at approximately 5:30 when 65-year-old Jeffrey E. Cannon, of Smiths Grove, crashed into a Christmas parade float carrying adults and children.
The crash happened at the intersection of South Main Street and Kirby Street, just north of the I-65 interchange. No was injured in the incident.
The Smiths Grove PD investigation showed that Cannon was under the influence.
He was arrested and charged with multiple counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and DUI (aggravating circumstances).
Cannon was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.
