Ernest G. “Ernie” Steff, age 77, of Round Hill, KY, passed away Friday, (December 5, 2025) at his residence. He was born on September 4, 1948 in Louisville, KY, the son of the late Ernest “Buck” Steff Jr. and Hazel Chisholm Steff.
He was a Vietnam Army Veteran and a retired law enforcement officer, who previously was with the Louisville Police Department, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Leitchfield Police Department, Clarkson Police Department and was an instructor for the Grayson County Detention Center. He was a member of the National FOP.
Ernie previously played with the Louisville Police Department’s football and Softball teams and he enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, and camping.
He is survived by his son, Ernie W. Steff (Stephanie), of Round Hill, KY, three grandchildren, Emma Grace, Ernest Cole and Zackary Clay Steff.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Connie Taylor Steff.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, (December 10, 2025) at Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Justin Pate will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.
