A Leitchfield man who overdosed three times in five weeks in 2023 has overdosed again, requiring five doses of Narcan, an opioid overdose reversal agent.
The latest incident happened Monday night at approximately 5:45 on Hardin Street, as the Leitchfield Police and Fire Departments and EMS responded to the scene.
The person who notified Central Dispatch of the heroin overdose said the 47-year-old man was unresponsive, even after a relative at the residence had given the man three doses of Narcan.
Upon police, firefighters and EMS arriving at the scene, the man had no pulse, according to a first responder. He was given chest compressions and two additional doses of Narcan, which at least partially revived the man.
He was transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center by EMS. His current condition is not known.
The man overdosed on July 26, 2023, at the same Hardin County home. He was given at least three doses of Narcan in that incident.
The week prior, the man overdosed on an opioid and went into respiratory arrest, as his heart stopped but he maintained a pulse, according to a first responder.
