A man who accused the Pike County judge-executive of killing his dog has admitted to threatening to kill the judge.

Ronald Ferguson, 48, of Elkhorn City, admitted to threatening to kill Pike County Judge-Executive Ray S. Jones II via multiple social media posts.

News agencies report that in a plea deal, Ferguson admitted that he told Jones: “I will hunt you down,” and “I may just do it on the courthouse (expletive) steps maybe in the (expletive) lobby.”

The Appalachian News Express reports that Ferguson posted: “In all your infinite wisdom, you got taken down by me, flat smoked Ray. You been wanting your name to go down in the history books, oh buddy your name is gonna go down in the history books there judge Ray Jones. For a long time coming. You’re dead. You wanted to be famous, I’ll make you famous.”

Ferguson further said: “Tomorrow’s your (expletive) day bitch. Tick tock you done run out of time (expletive).”

Ferguson posted the threats in February and did so because he apparently believed Jones had killed his dog.

He was indicted by a federal grand jury in March for interstate threat to injure. Ferguson faces up to five years in federal prison at his formal sentencing in March 2026.
