A Grinch has been arrested after stealing Christmas decorations from a home in Nelson County.

The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office on November 22 issued a be-on-the-lookout alert “in search of the Grinch” who stole two small Christmas trees, Santa’s sled and reindeer from the front yard of a home on Benelli Drive in north Bardstown.

The sheriff’s office, in publicizing the theft, said: “The Grinch is at it again – and he started early this year. Sneaking around Nelson County trying to swipe Christmas cheer …”

What the “Grinch” did not count on was surveillance cameras catcher the thief in the act.

After an investigation, police charged Tammy Smith, of Washington County, with theft by unlawful taking.

All the stolen items were returned to their rightful owners.
