The first medical marijuana dispensary in Kentucky opens on Saturday in Beaver Dam.

Gov. Andy Beshear announced that The Post Dispensary, at 300 North Main Street, will have a soft opening Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (or until supplies run out).

The products available at The Post Dispensary were grown by Farmtucky, the first licensed cultivator to bring product to market, the governor’s office said.

“Our priority is ensuring Kentuckians suffering with serious medical conditions can have safe access to medical cannabis, as soon as possible, to get the relief they need,” Beshear said. “We’ll keep sharing more news as it’s available. We made a promise, a promise we kept. And now we’re just days away from the first safe medical cannabis being available in Kentucky for those who need it.”

Trip Hoffman, the businesses general manager, told WFIE.com: “It’s about a year ago that we paid our fees on it and prepared for this opportunity. It’s been a long year. A lot of waiting, a lot of work to do and all those things but we’re pretty happy to be here.”
