A Morgantown man is facing felony charges after posing as a first responder.
The Morgantown Police Department arrested 57-year-old Jonathan Morris on Thursday night after officers were notified that a motorist was activating red emergency lights and “stopping abruptly in front of other vehicles,” Morgantown Police Chief Giles Taylor told WNKY.com.
The roads at the time were dangerous following a snowfall.
Officers made contact with Morris and noted that his truck was outfitted with a siren and red flashing light bar along with several radios. He additionally had a radio that picks up police communications. What Morris didn’t have was a valid driver’s license.
The investigation further showed that Morris was not associated with any first responder agencies.
He was arrested and charged with three counts of felony wanton endangerment, improper use of red lights, impersonating a public servant, no operator’s license, and possession/use of a radio capable of sending or receiving police communications.
