A semi-truck carrying lumber overturned on Peonia Road Monday morning.
The Wax Fire Department, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Grayson County Emergency Management, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, and Kentucky State Police responded Monday morning at approximately 10:15 to the crash in the 12200 block of Peonia Road.
Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found that a westbound tractor-trailer hauling lumber left the roadway while coming out of a curve. The driver, who was uninjured, told police that he swerved to miss an eastbound vehicle that was in the westbound lane.
The semi traveled about 75 yards after it left the road, as it destroyed a utility pole before rolling over at least once on an embankment. The truck came to rest on its side, spilling a large load of lumber.
Peonia Road was shut down in both directions near the accident site, as Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials re-routed traffic around the wreck. Multiple Warren RECC trucks with several workers arrived and set a new utility pole.
The roadway reopened to normal traffic flow at approximately 3:00 p.m.
