Two toddlers and an infant have perished in a house fire in eastern Kentucky.

Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to a residence on Upper Dry Fork Road in Jackson County just before midnight on Tuesday.

State police said that, as a result of the fire, three children were pronounced deceased at the scene: a seven-month-old, a two-year old and a three-year-old.

A fourth child, a four-year-old, was transported to University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital and later transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, for further treatment.

Three adults, Tyler Monst, 23, Morgan Johnson, 22, and Florence Johnson, 76, all three of McKee, were transported to University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital.

The cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the deaths remain under investigation, Kentucky State Police said.
