The Dundee Fire Department chief has died.

Mike Sipla, 44, of Hartford, passed away on Sunday, December 28 at Ohio County Healthcare.

The Dundee FD said Sipla “selflessly” served the fire department for over five years.

“Our department and community are shaken and deeply grieving the loss of Chief Mike Sipla. He had a real heart for this community and everyone who knew him, knew how devoted he was to getting people together and helping those in times of need. Mike would give you the shirt off his back and treated those he knew like a brother,” the Dundee FD said in a social media post.

“While we try to pick up the pieces of Mike’s passing, we ask that you be in prayer for his wife Amanda and their family,” the fire department said. “I know Mike has been there for so many of us and if anyone would like to help his family in their time of need please send us a direct message and we’d be happy to point you in the right direction. We’ll miss you brother. Fly high, 717.”

No cause of death has been released.
