A Grayson County man has been arrested after a gunshot ripped through an apartment wall.
The Leitchfield Police Department arrested 19-year-old Christian Kerr, of Leitchfield, and charged him with three counts of felony wanton endangerment and tampering with physical evidence.
The charges arose after Kerr was handling a firearm that discharged, shooting through an apartment wall and into a neighboring apartment where the bullet struck the kitchen ceiling, according to the arrest citation. Inside the apartment were two juveniles and an adult male, at least one of which was in the kitchen when the shot was fired.
The incident happened at an apartment complex on South Claggett Drive in Leitchfield.
The suspect told police that after the weapon discharged, he left the firearm in his bedroom and tossed his phone in a pond off Byrtle Grove Road “with intentions of getting rid of possible evidence,” the citation states.
Kerr surrendered to authorities at the Leitchfield Police Department about six hours after the incident. He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
The suspect is currently on pre-trial diversion on a felony wanton endangerment charge out of Nelson County that occurred in May 2025, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections.
