A small plane traveling from Murray had to make an emergency landing on a highway in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on Wednesday, multiple news outlets reported.
The Hot Springs Sentinel-Record reported that the plane — a Piper Cherokee Arrow four-seat, single-engine aircraft owned by West Kentucky Flyers Corp. — made an emergency landing on the highway. Citing the flight tracking website FlightAware, the newspaper reported that the plane had left Murray shortly after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, bound for Hot Springs Memorial Field.
Little Rock NBC affiliate KARK-TV reported that the plane touched down on Arkansas Highway 5 shortly after noon.
Garland County Sheriff Mike McCormick told The Sentinel-Record that the plane began to have mechanical issues and landed on the roadway at approximately 12:13 p.m. The plane was occupied by a family of four, though no one was injured.
Another Little Rock TV news station, the ABC-affiliated KATV, reported that the landing was under investigation by Arkansas State Police.
Local firefighters also responded to the scene, and a portion of the highway was closed until the plane could be loaded onto a truck and removed from the area.
