The man who perished in a house fire in Ohio County died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

As K105 reported Monday morning, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office responded to the fire at approximately 2:15 Sunday afternoon in Centertown where a body was found inside the residence.

The sheriff’s office said the deceased male has been identified as Nathan Woolen, of Centertown.

“Preliminary results show the cause of death to be carbon monoxide poisoning,” the sheriff’s office said. “It is to be believed that the heat source malfunctioned, which caused a spark which then ignited the house.”

In addition to the sheriff’s office, the Centertown and Hartford Fire Departments and Ohio County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.
