Grayson Co. Middle School Academic Team dominates district competition, nearly a dozen students advance to region

Grayson County Middle School’s Academic Team won the district championship with a strong showing in the 16th Governor’s Cup competition.

The academic tournament was held on Saturday and resulted in nearly a dozen Grayson County Middle School competitors advancing to regional competition, as four students came in first place in five events.

The results

  • Math: Bentley Gary won the competition while Evan Templeman placed second and Blaze Chhor came in fourth.
  • Science: Trinity Clemons came in first place as Evan Templeman and Bentley Gary tied for second.
  • Social Studies: Levi Hamlington won the event, Trinity Clemons came in second place and Mason Day placed fifth.
  • Language Arts: Kady Cook won the competition while Collin Miller placed third.
  • Arts & Humanities: Kady Cook came in second place with Carolyn House placing fourth.
  • Written Composition: Kady Cook won the event.
  • Future Problem Solving: The team comprised of Carolyn House, Ben Sadler, Alice Carman, and Trinity Thompson came in second place.

All the featured students will compete at regional competition on February 14 at South Warren Middle School in Bowling Green.
