A toddler in Laurel County wearing only a diaper and shirt wandered onto a porch as temperatures hovered around 34 degrees.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrested 34-year-old Jessica M. Mills, of London, after her two-year-old child was found on a porch at approximately 6:15 Tuesday night. The residents did not know the child.
The homeowner brought the child inside her home, the sheriff’s office said, until deputies arrived.
Police said Mills was found “at a residence in the area,” where the suspect admitted to using drugs, as deputies determined she was under the influence.
Mills also had a nine-month-old baby and 15-year-old in her custody.
She was charged with two counts of felony wanton endangerment and lodged in Laurel County Corrections on a $5,000 cash bond.
